Best in show: Sh Ch Ludstar Frederick Frankenstein
with handler Frances Boxall
Leaving Burntisland in sunshine and spring weather, it scared me to look at the black clouds over Alva while I was approaching the well-known Cochrane Hall. The thought of standing in the rain all day wasn’t pleasant!
But the weather gods were kind (well half-kind) and the rain stayed away all day and despite the cold, The Gordon Setter Club Of Scotland had a fabulous championship show. The ring outdoors was big enough for a large gundog breed and enough place around for the exhibitors too. The kitchen served free lunch on the 30th anniversary show and all those cakes were so fabulous!
The cheerful, friendly committee ensured that the show ran smoothly in a relaxed atmosphere. It was good to see some known faces and what a day to see Jane Osborne winning the 3rd CC with Siena. I met Jane 5 years ago for the first time at a field trial training day in the Mendips and she was very encouraging about my Neita. I hope Siena soon drops the 'Sh' in her name :)
The judge for the day was Mrs Pam Davies (Benbreac) and examined each exhibit thoroughly. She found her final winners in the following dogs:
BIS Sh Ch Ludstar Frederick Frankenstein
RBIS Amscot Siena Spice
DCC Sh Ch Ludstar Frederick Frankenstein
RCC Ecameadow The Explorer
BCC Amscot Siena Spice
RCC Amscot Love Is In The Air
BPIS Hernwood Achilles At Ettrick
BVIS Sh Ch Laurelhach Limited Edition At Yohenoak
Three special awards classes were offered and the overall winner was Connie Ford's Liric Fusilier with Shillay JW ShCM, on the decision of judge Mrs Jenny Roberts (Cairacailie).
The lunch break was also used for some fun and there were many smiling faces when the best dressed dogs/handlers went into the ring.
