Japanese Spitz Breed Notes
From a total entry of 75, breed specialist Debi Nichols found her CC winners from both open classes with the DCC going to Lynne Fraser’s Leymun Teikok Boy and the BCC going to Lesley Mott’s (handled by daughter Beth) Anlemar Sunset Sensation, with both of these gaining their most important third CC making them worthy champions (subject to KC confirmation); the win for Lynne was most poignant as this boy was bred by the late Brenda and Brian Ley.
The dog RCC was awarded to Avril Roper’s Kessaku Ice and a Slice and the Bitch RCC to Penny Bambridge’s Kessaku Betty Poop at Tartiko, JW. Best puppy was awarded to Jean Moody with Nanpantan Mamma Mia, and Best Veteran to Dorothy and Richard Serginson’s Amazing Star At Midaras.
Alison Gibson also had cause for celebration when Ch Charney Mejiro was shortlisted in a large Champion Stakes.
Further afield, at the Amsterdam Winners Show, under UK Judge Mark Cocozza, Penny Vanhoutin won CAC/CACIB/BOB with Bladvita a King Champion with Peter Lisens winning Reserve CAC and Best Junior with Univers Fantazm Instinct of Victory.

As the show season for 2018 comes to and, we’d like to wish all Japanese Spitz owners a very Happy Christmas and a successful 2019.

Thank you to dog focus, what a lovely idea to have an online breed notes website.
Firstly, our thoughts go to Lynne Fraser and her family after the loss of her sister Jean. Jean has been a member of the Japanese Spitz club committee for years and has helped with the stewarding of the three shows, she will be sadly missed by all.
Her funeral is being held on Friday 22nd September at Swindon Crematorium, SN25 6SG at noon.
News from the shows this week, the weather was dry for Welsh Kennel Club where Finnish judge Elina Haapaniemi awarded Adell & Kennedy’s Ch Kumiko Mizuiro the Dog CC, Best of Breed and Best Veteran in Breed, Krystina’s Ch Kessaku Pumpkin Paws the Bitch CC, and Stephanie Bliss’ Charney Asterodea best Puppy in breed.
Congratulations must also go to Adell, Kennedy & Richards Ch Charney’s Precious Gift for Kumiko and Carley’s Charney Celestial Shimmer getting the reserve dog and bitch CC.
Further great news is that Ch Kumiko Mizuiro got Group 3 in the Welsh Kennel veteran group.
But the news hasn’t been just in Wales, Tanya Church has started the Irish Circuit showing on both Saturday and Sunday, getting 1st Place in Intermediate bitch with Sanyinko Silver Spirit and 2nd in puppy dog with Sanyinko Winter Star on both days – good luck in the rest of the circuit and we look forward to seeing the results.
Good luck to all the exhibitors travelling to Scotland and I hope that everyone has a safe journey and enjoys the day!
I’m sure that everyone would love to know about things going on in our breed so please if you have any stories, successes or would like to share some news about your Japanese Spitz please let me know!
