Josephine tells me that he wasn’t the bravest of Dalmatians, he hated the cold and loved the heat. He wasn’t a fan of the show ring but he loved deer hunting and hare coursing. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his heartbroken owners.

Breed notes week ending 10th March

I hope everyone enjoyed Crufts, it’s always exciting to see so many dogs that you don’t usually get to meet. It was an early start for Dalmatians at 8am and the day began with a well-respected minute’s silence to mark the passing of Susan Gatheral, a lovely touch and something I am sure she would have appreciated. Chris Pickup (Roadcoach) was our judge and she was extremely efficient in getting through the exhibits.

The Dog ticket went to Jacquie Christie’s “Nugget” CH Sophtspot Gold Dust JW (Multi CH Spotnik’s First Farao for Ormond x Sophtspot Cha Cha Cha JW), handled by Marina Scott, and the Reserve CC to Mark Dunnachie’s “Zorro” CH Dvojica Vendetta (Multi CH Alphadirito Future Brand x CH Dvojica Voodoo). We have a break from the Champ shows for a few weeks now until WELKS at the end of April. Enjoy the rest and recover ready for the new show season and save some money! Have a lovely week all xxx

Breed notes week ending 3rd March

Happy Cruftsmas week to everyone! It’s not just another dog show, it’s THE dog show. It’s busy and hectic but so many exhibitors and visitors look forward to it all year. Personally, I still think it is an honour to qualify and show here, not everyone is so fortunate so remember that when you step onto the green carpet on Sunday. We are in our usual place; Hall 1, Ring 7. Judging starts at 8am due to the excellent entry gained by our judge, Chris Pickup (Roadcoach). Chris has drawn 84 Dogs making 100 and 122 Bitches making 142, giving a grand total of 206 exhibits making 242 entries. This is the second highest entry in the Utility Group, beaten only by the Bulldogs. So good luck to everyone who is attending and I will see you there!

We should have been at the Kennel Club building on Saturday but due to a dog with Parvovirus being present at the building, the Joint Show was forced to move to the Avon Hall at Three Counties Showground. I expect this was no easy task for the Clubs and I think all of us would like to say a huge Well done and Thank you to them for rearranging the show at such short notice. We had two judges; Mark Dunnachie (Dvojica) took control of the dogs and found his CC winner in Jacquie Christie’s “Nugget” CH Sophtspot Gold Dust JW (Multi CH Spotnik’s First Farao for Ormond x Sophtspot Cha Cha Cha JW) and the RDCC was awarded to Julie Hopkins’ “Gus” Rapanooey Red Rose JW (Rapanooey Rasul x Rapanooey Rhapsody).
