Italian Spinone Breed Notes

Italian Spinone

Italian Spinone
10th February and what a week this has been and still is.Weather absolutely crazy.Very wet and windy with some really heavy rumbles inbetween it all.So glad our old massive pine trees had to come down 1 year ago.No worries now about them coming down on the house or car.

We have spent some time now putting up new fencing and we did a fab job of it too I hasten to add.We were sooo proud of all those hours slaving away and now--- Gone with the Wind---.Lola and Rebel are over the moon because now they can see the BIRDS again that are hiding in the hedge and they are both so focused on the Sparrows that are teasing them flittering in and out there in the Bamboo…yoohooo now you see me, now I am over there .So when the weather settles it's back to putting up the fences again.Ohh joy.

We went over the fields today. The dogs haven't been out for their daily charges these past few days as they have had enough sence to stand there in the doorway going - on your bike- not going out..So they have litterally just put four paws outside the door and come back in again.

The dogs went ferral across the fields.Anything flying and they were off after it ,so now there are three dogs flat out infront of the fire.Bliss.If I am lucky i migh even get a slightly longer sleep in the morning..Ohhh wishfull thinking.

So what else have we got going on ? Again very quiet on the show side and have you noticed how many critiques from the shows here in UK incl Belfast ) that are not forthcoming !! from 2019 I have counted 42 and 6 from 2020…I think I might have to do a name and shame in the breed notes? Do you think they would care ?

Anyway here are a few show results for you.

Newton Abbot & South Devon CS which was on the 25tyh Jan and judge was Josephine Pinfold and her BOB went to Phil Kruglow's

Amberellie Adrianna and RBOB was Lyn Mortimer's Scodinezolare Perlescenti

We had Coalville & Dist CS on the 26th and here it was Graham Fordham (Cloudnine) that judged and his BOB went to Leanne and Mark Challand's ShCh Mistyayre Gigolo for Annilann (ShCM) with the RBOB going to Julie Kelly & Keith Wain's Lajatico Aida

On the 1st of Feb it was Isle of Ely and it was Elaine Thomas (Claramand) judging and she found her BOB in Karen James's Sh Ch Inostricani Fiorella (JW ShCM ShCEX) and RBOB going to Barratt's Affilato Happy Ever After at Barold

So that’s it for this time .

Well here we are then 3rd of Feb and BREXIT is done so it shall be interesting to see what the "new rules" if any will come about regarding Travelling with pets .Nothing will happen for quite some time yet but you just don't know.I keep looking on DEFRA's web site but looks like they know as much about it as I do. Watch this space !!

I didn't do the breed notes last week as there was absolutely nothing to report on.Dogs behaving and doing well.

What else has been happening around the world of dogs? Not much really.very quiet on the show side so no show results as such and not much happening around the place in general.

I did attend Lichfiled Canine Soc on the 25th Jan where our Judge for the Italian Spinone was Mr Richard Morris (Lascoed)

BOB went to Nina Fleming's NUCH/DKCH Chandhally Limon Cino and the RBOB also went to Nina Fleming and NUCH Chadhally Cockney Rebel.
BP was Karen Bovio's Ilsolo Fiorello

Julie Kelly's Lajatico Aida was 1st in Junior and 1st PG and I shall stand corrected here but I know she got placed both in the Junior Stakes where Marion Sargent (Tegwani) was the judge and in the Post Grad Stakes under judge Jeremy Goddard (Minard)

In the Gundog AV Veteran Stakes ( 16 entered and only 3 absent) Judge was Mrs Bridgette Bodie (Kitram) 1st Nina Fleming's ShCh,NUCH,DKCH,Int Ch Redrue Cherriecola to Chandhally and we went forward for BVIS but didn't get that but that’s OK.On the whole the Spins really had a fab day.

I think I better start getting the catalogues from the few shows I go to just so that I can atleast get the classes and results and get it out there

A reminder that the Schedule for the ISCGB's Ch show is available on line www.dog.biz and online entry closes 12th March 2020 12 noon. Our judge is Christine Bennett(Hochopepa) Subject to KC approval

The show is on Saturday 28th March .Venue is KC Building Stoneleigh Park.

20th Jan and I am sooo not a happy cookie.Had to have a little "ding-dong" with new Vet. Commenting on the Old Bats good teeth for her age-Now 9 years old - and I said yes thanks for that and nice of you to say so.The vet then said you brush her teeth don't you ?? I am toooo polite to say I hit the roof but I did in my head. No I said, she gets propper food you name it she eats it ,fruits, vegetables, left over what ever goes ,our dogs are our slopp buckets which also includs bones and dried fish.Well!! The Vet started a lecture of how bad that was for the dog and should only feed complete and give dental chews for good teeth hygene and all that stuff. I very politely said that if the dogs or any pet were supposed to have their teeth brushed they would have been given hands and would absolutely not have those fab canine teeth ,all the better to chew with.

Needless to say I did pass a comment to the boss whom I have known for a very long time and will have nothing more to do with that one- Not pleased about being lectured by a "20" year old that insists that "all inclusive" dog food is the only thing they should get -feeding rubbish which def ruins their teeth, makes them fat and contains stuff that NO canine would ever eat. Grains comes to mind

Better going to McDonald and get them burgers or some chicken stuff and a bag of sugar and salt than that rubbish .Rant over.

We have just had Manchester Ch Show where Keith Groom was judging the breed. We were 2nd in the ring.It took for ever. Why on earth did they put us 2nd after an entry of 88 Gordons? when were were 73/76 Spins? Sorry rant wasn't really over..

I arrived at the show after 11 am as it said not before so I didn't rush. Walking towards the venue i saw an exhibitor walking back to his car with trolly and stuff and obviously the dog , so I said ohh Gordons are done then ? To which the reply was No she hadn't even started on the bitches and you will have a long wait as she is slow..He was right.

Needless to say it was along long wait for our judge and us.By the time our Judge had come towards the end of the judging of the bitches they were calling for all BOB winners in Gundogs.Well if that isn't putting extra stress on the judge I don't know what will..

His BOB & BCC went to Claire and Lee Sharp's Affilato All About Me JW who also went G4 under group judge Dr Ronald W James
The RBCC was awarded to Rachael Blythe's Talpalupo Grazioso
The DCC was Giles's Sh Ch Gradevole Giovana with the RDCC awarded to Sherril Dewar's Macarica Harrys Rock Jw
BPIB award went to Whitlow's Gradevole Signorina Bianco and BVIB going to Nina Flemings Sh Ch NU Ch DK Ch Int Ch Redrue Cherriecola To Chandhally

We have the 13th January 2020 and what has been occuring? Not a lot really.I haven't been to dog shows for a while so really looking forward to Manchester at the weekend where Keith Groom has an entry of 73/76. We are 2nd in the ring after the Gordons and there are 88 of them to be judged- aparently.

Well I shall arrive fairly early, just in case traffic is slow and to make sure that the girls will be well and truly clean before entering the ring.

Thought I would mention a bit about vomiting and diarrehoea as it is pretty common in dogs but understanding why is sometimes a bit of a conundrum.Where have they been, what have they eaten or drunk? So I have sort of a check list of what to look for and what to do and when to get to the Vet and if any of these things applies.. Get to the VET and get it investigated ASAP

First thing is-Is there any blood?

Your pet does not want to move,is uncomfortable and in pain.Rather lethargic and not really interested in you or even respodning to you Signes of shaking, respotary problems and seizures .

Have not eaten or drunk for 24 to 36 hours .

Your pet has eaten some form of poison and that includes rat poison.

I have personal experience of the latter, happened some years ago in Norway and that was the worst thing I have ever come across.Luck isn't even the word I would use but I happened to notice one of the dogs nibbling at something which is not normal.I thought I would just look to see what it was and saw that it was blue in colour- Vet immediately- My sister knew what it was as they had put some rat poison down under the decking .We took box with the rat poison with us to the Vet so they knew what to give them.I did not know that Rat poisons are all different, it is not only one type of poison used so again luck for us that we had the packet .The vet pumped them full of some stuff ,I have no idea what it was but wow did they spew. Not an experience that I would like to repeat.Dogs were fine after a few day under Veterinary care.

However If your pet is resposive and sort of perky but you can't quite put your finger on it but know things are not right ? perhaps they have done the typical canine thing- scavanged as they do or picked up a virus.

Withold food for at least 4 hours since the last vomiting episode. If there is no vomit then feed bland food
This should speed up the recovery and are naturally easy on the stomach which is inflamed. Feed a small amount of food and make sure to check that it stays down for a few hours before you give another handfull

Only one Show for you and that is Boston & DCS Ch show which was on the 10th and Lee Sharp was judging the spins. However no Cc's on offer

His BOB ,BB & BP went to Karen Bovio's Ilsolo Fiorelli with the RBB awarded to Karen James's Sh Ch Inostricani Fiorella (JW ShCM ShCEX) BD was Sherril Dewar's Macarica Harry's Rock and RBD went to Culling's Locoru Here Comes Summer

Don't forget, if you like what you read then scroll down to the very, very ,very end of The Spinone Breed notes and you will find the various icons.

Hope you will show your suprive early port by doing so.Any comments - please add that aswell.

Here we are then 2020 and what will this year bring to us all I wonder.Top of wish list .

Critiques from shows that should have been out months and months ago?

More All rounders and foreigners to judge the breed and hopefully more Open shows putting on a Spin class or two? Yeah dream on.

Well it has been rather uneventful here over Xmas and New Year , well you know the traditional eat and drink far to much and feel stuffed and if you are like me I do not know how to cater for just a few.I feel like I have cooked for the whole village but no worries the dogs got all those yummy left overs and by golly did they love it.Little or no fireworks here which was great so the Old Bat was more chilled than ever.

Babs Davids had organised 2 Spin walks here in Wales.Couldn't do the boxing day one as we a party to go to,more food and drinks to consume but we went to the New Years day one and it was fab.Must have been a good 20/30 dogs spins and others .A few growls between some of the boys but that was it.We walked over the many sand dunes and down to the beach. The dogs really enjoyed themselves charging around with all the other dogs.Got onto the fab sandy beach that goes on for miles and it was full chagre into the sea .Lola and her son and daughter likes to "drink"sea water so they were just charging into the sea and lapping it.Can't stop them and it doesn't really bother them.Nature does what nature does.No point in shouting.

After a good 2 hour walk it was back to the car and the sand dunes followed us there too.Still there no matter how much i vaccume the car and the dogs. Yes you read correctly. This lot loves being vaccume cleand and they push eachother away to have their turn.So my red Henry eagerly vaccumes every part of the dogs. Sadly I am still brushing up sand in the kitchen.

I could have made a few sandpit's for the grandson with all this.Worst of all is that I still get sand between my toes. How? Ohh joy.

16th Dec and wondering what to talk about this time and then it came to me as I am sitting here proud as anybody can be .Why am I proud and what is the big deal? Big deal for me as Riva NUCh/DKCH Chandhally Limon Cino passed the Good Citizen Bronze with flying colours at LKA.I really didn't think she would be up to it but she proved me so wrong 100% pass didn't put a paw wrong and to top it all fame at last and we had our photo taken and it will be put in a well known doggy magazine- so I was told..
You see I just noticed as I was walking towards our hall a sign saying Good Citizen and thought carpe dium..why not see what happens. If it goes well I won't have 2 bitches in OB..Yippyyy.Then the let down when I got home to see how many shows have a Good Citizen Class just a hand full so I will still have 2 bitches in OB ahhh but not at Crufts yeaahhh.
Thankfully I do have some really good friends who are more than willing to handel on of them, for which I am really grateful. You are damned if you do and damned if you don't so which one would you leave at home alone as the Old bat is still enjoying the shows.
Xmas is closing in and I see no sign of any xmassy feeling. No snow and no cold.Just wet, rain, dark and stinky, dirty dogs and I have decided to re-register them for a while as brown roans.
The fields have yet again flooded so free hydro theraphy is back but so is all that glorious mud and rotting vegitation. They have now found a new snack, well they have always liked to eat it but rapeseed as new shoots. This is the old rotton stuff but ohhh are they smelly after eating it.I was told that it actully belonged to the broccoli family.Who knows. Can't stop them eating it when they are fields away.
Some show results for you .

9th Dec and no sign of any winter down this end.Still wet ,damp and I have really mucky dogs.Bring me snow so that I can have clean dogs.!!
So whats up otherwise? Well we have LKA this week end where Karen James is judging and she has an entry of 76 dogs. We are 3rd in the ring after GSP 41 & GWP with 14 ,well that is if they don't change their minds !
I have tried to pre-book the parking with the details that is in the LKA schedule but keep coming up with error or page not found.Ohh well full payment it is then unless I can get to it in the next few days some other way.Knowing my luck - no chance.

Other news ?

2nd December and full steam ahead for Xmas.Had the biggest shocker ever with the Spins.Having had Dalmatians for over 30 years, we always had to put food away and make sure they couldn't get into any bins or cupboards.Well this lot has never ever taken anything from the work benches,no matter how tempting or from tables or where ever food sits..well that was up til yesterday afternoon.
Don't know if you have ever seen the comedy movie- The Mask -(with Jim Carrie?) and where he sees this hot chick and the jaw drops to the floor...well that was me.We had friends over for a cuppa and my husband had made some almond slices and scones and as per usual sitting on the work bench.Jaw dropped when I went back into the kitchen for a top up , went out again and asked if he had put any away in the tins - friends sniggering - they have Dalmatians- he said NO ??? Puzzled.. well.half of the slices had gone and a few scones..Who looked guilty --Not one of them - hmmm so I had a sniff of their stinky beards-- ohh yes--The Old Bat.Was she ashamed - not at all just looked at me with those eyes-by this time friends in hysterics- Do we now we have to get used to putting food away - again..She wasn't even sick or had the squits--but I do hope that this was just one off.The other 2 wouldn't even consider nicking food from anywhere ,they even have to be invited to eat..well that is if they even want any food that day..Is it old age ?? She is 9 in less than a month?? Time to get naughty??
Mind you they are jummy especially when they are slightly warm,,Well less for us to eat.

Please have a read at this and take notes...
The number of cases of Alabama Rot – a flesh-eating disease which can be fatal to dogs , has increased in the past 12 months, with 17 confirmed incidents reported in 2019. The first reported case in England was in 2012 and 2014 in Wales. So far 140 cases has been reported, but there has been about 14 new suspected cases so far this year.
Areas including West Sussex, Greater Manchester, Dorset, Devon and Hampshire’s New Forest have seen many dogs diagnosed with the disease this year ,they have reported 14 suspected cases
Over the past few weeks, cases of Alabama Rot have been reported in smaller towns and villages including Southwater and Horsham in Sussex.
Alabama Rot, particularly as we’re entering the time of year when cases are most common"A further confirmed case means it is understandably very worrying for dog owners; however, this disease is still very rare, so the advise to dog owners to remain calm but vigilant, and seek advice from their local vet if their dog develops unexplained skin lesions."
Last year, cases of the disease were found right around the country.
What is Alabama Rot?
The flesh-eating disease, also known as CRGV, causes dogs to vomit, develop skin lesions and is fatal in 80% of cases. This is due to the fact that if the disease is not spotted early, it can lead to sudden and potentially fatal kidney failure.
SIGNS
• Skin lesions
• A scrape or ulcer to an area, often feet
• Red areas with black centres often found on the legs and muzzle
• The disease can develop to affect the kidneys and cause kidney failure, which is most likely fatal
• Once the disease has gone to this further stage symptoms include vomiting, reduced appetite and tiredness
Unfortunately, as the cause of Alabama Rot is not known, dog owners cannot directly prevent their pet from contracting the disease. But here is some advice on reducing the risk...
How to help prevent the disease:
• Try to walk your dog on dry paths and avoid muddy areas.
• Wash off paws, legs and tummies of dogs after a muddy walk.
• Check for symptoms and call a vet if in doubt.

26th Nov and Did you miss me??? No breed notes for a while and that’s not me ,is it?? Well good news for you as I am back in the country after a rather quick emergency exit back to Norway and hense missing the breed notes and a number of Open shows that I had entered, but family comes first.
Amazing how quickly people turn around and help, like the boarding kennels that I took the dogs to.I rang up in the afternoon explaining the situation -they must go in now -and yes not a problem we can fix that for you but you must be here by 5pm.It is rush hour and we have a really bad tunnel here on the M4 that is always seriously slow or gridlocked-. half way there and a slight panic- dogs passports what did I do with them? and kennels shuts at 5!! I stopped the car ,charged around looking for these blasted passports- phew-- it was in my coat pocket- luckily as I had left my handbag and everything else at home.Got there right on 5.Question from the staff when I got there .when do you come back? I just said I have no idea .Big smile form the girls - don't you worry- we will look after them and you just keep us posted..I could have cried. How often do you come across kindness and understanding like this?
Well, finally back in UK and all well back at home .Dogs collected and they were happy and so delighted to be back home. The staff at the kennels absolutely adore them and had to have their cuddles before they would let them go.Doesn't that make you feel good knowing that others also love your dogs?
Now all we need is to chill and relax. So there you have it.

It is much easier for catering and goodies if they know how many to expect.
Other info to share with you is that NISA will also be hosting a quiz night on Wednesday 12th Feb 2020 at Bowburn Community Centre.7 to 7.30pm start.
A Points of the Dog seminar is in the pipeline so look out for that on their FB page aswell as some plans for working events (which they are working on...hahhaha see where that went Sorry I just couldn't help it.)

Bookings are now being taken for the Northern Spinfest 2020. Once again Canada Fields caravan park have kindly allowed us the use of their rally field for the event. It is unusual for a rally field to have any additional facilities but we are lucky enough to have a small toilet and shower block, running water and toilet disposal, together with a limited number hook ups. Please book early, especially if you require hook up, as they are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Thank you very much for your assistance. Kind regards Paul Wyer Secretary

4th November and not looking forward to bonfire night at all.The old bat has never liked the bangs and I tell everybody that, nothing to hide,is it? It is what it is.She is a very sensitive girl so I do feel for her.The other two couldn't care less.Middle one is the very girly one as she likes anything that is pretty and yes she is the only one who likes to be groomed, pedicured and manicured and rolls in the most "fragrant" stuff anywhere we walk-- uuuhh. If anything the youngest thinks fireworks is funny and wants to chaise what ever it is that is going up and just looks when it goes bang and stuff falls down.Worth chaising??? Yeah you bet..Don't worry she can't get out of the but there again you can never underestimate your dogs canning way of telling you how very wrong you are.
I give the old bat some of that zylkene stuff and put her dog coat on and she goes in her bed and is pretty chilled out with that and the radio on and the cooker fan and not to forget the TV.ahhh.. Atleast now we know what to do for her and how to get her to settle.
Looking forward to the winter returning.Frosty fresh mornings and please lets have some snow..Clean dogs, no mucky paws, beards and well the whole dog is just covered in muck these days.ohh well.I still love them..
So what else is happening out there these days ?
Yipppyyy no brexit yet so no need to do all that vet stuff if we had left when you feel like hopping across the channel.Atleast that’s something.
Dog shows at this time of year is as we all know not much to write home about as there are hardly any around but hopefull by next week we might have a show or two to report on.
Don't forget to atleast try to support the few clubs that have put on a spin Class for us.
Other than that .
.. well look at all the critiques that has not turned up yet. Some of them were months ago and as I have said so many times what's the problem??Better to get it off your chest while it is still fresh in your head..ohh well. Must have something to grumble about..

There is a field trial coming up
NOVICE STAKE
(NOVICE: Confined to dogs which have not gained the following awards: First or Second or Third in Open Stakes, or a First, Second in All Aged or a First award in a Novice Stake.)

28th October and hasn't this week gone fast.Xmas adverts and movies already on TV and Xmas trees and stuff in the shops.Well that ruins the whole x-mas spirit. We haven’t had Halloween or bonfire night yet.So which came first?Confused ? A bit like chicken and the egg!
It has been quiet on the homefront and Fab Rugby.. oh yes but I won't bore you with that.
Flooding around continues but thankfully we are OK with our stream and Lola has finally learned her lesson that you do not get in when it is in full flow.We had a rather scarey experience and thankgoodness the Spins have a thick "hide" and something for you to grab hold of.
Now she stops, looks ,then thinks about it and looks at me for a No or OK.
I can't go near the river but I'm ok with that as the fields are pretty flooded anyway so the dogs still have free hydro therapy and they get back in the car Clean !!

It seems to generally be quiet around and not much gossip to pass on.Saying that I do have 2 more judges for you and they are as follows.
2020
Leeds 24/07 Mrs A Hardy
Driffield 01/10 Mrs Lesley Coldwell

For those of you who are going to the GBAS the entry there is 40 /57 so not a bad entry at all for the judge which is Mr James Peter Harper (Pitswarren )

We have had Midland Counties CS which was on the 25th.This is one of the few Ch Shows that really saddens me when it comes to the Groups as there is NO BPIG and No BVIG so obviously no BPIS or BVIS and I just do not understand why they cannot be asked to do so.Is it because they want to go home early ?.How wonderful is it to see up and coming youngsters showing their socks off and the golden oldies still going strong?
The judged here was Janet Neil (Kevardhu) and she had a good entry of 84 dogs.As perusual I set off early to allow for fridays traffic and I was surpriced to find that it was pretty painless this time , yes because later I found out that it was half term..
I have plenty of time in hand I thought when I parked the car, just to find that the judge was doing the DCC when I got there.I was OK anyway as I was in OB and VB and I had plenty time to clean the girls after the walk down from the car.It was chucking it down so obviously wet and muddy.
BOB & BCC was Val Woodwards Connomar Zambana and this was her 2nd CC, the RBCC went to Chris & Pete Guest's Sh Ch Bardantop Spells Chaos (JW).The DCC was Rachael Blyth's Sh Ch Talpalupo Ettore and the RDCC awarded to Thompson's Testaverde Back for Good at Paradeco.BPIB was Leamy's Diggmere Gignese and BVIB was Nina Fleming's Multi Ch Redrue Cherriecola to Chandhally.
It was really nice to see Pat and Ken by the ringside aswell and I know they enjoyed seeing so many friends there.I wish them both well and look forward to seeing them both at LKA perhaps or Crufts?
Some Open show results for you aswell this time and it is so good to see that clubs are finally putting on a class for us here and there.
We start with
Birmingham & District Gundog & Terrier - 19th and Janice Bannister judged the breed and her BOB was Karen James's Sh Ch Inostricani Fiorella (JW ShCM ShCEX) who was also shortlisted in the group.BP & RBOB was James Clements & Pratt's Affilato Twist of Irony .

South Western Gundog Club - 19th and here it was Diane Stewart-Ritchie (Gwendariff) judging and her BOB was Phil Kruglow's
Amberellie Adrianna with Lyn Mortimers Scodinzolare Perlescenti getting RBOB.

Northwich & DCS was on the 20th and this time it was Amanda James (Tsarmont) in the ring and her BOB & BP went to Chris Bennett's
Testaverde Irma Capece del Hochopepa with the RBOB being awarded to Thompson's Testaverde Back for Good at Paradeco
and finally we have
Yorkshire Gundog Club which was on the 27th and the judge here was Clare Fordham (Cloudnine). Her BOB was Thompson's
Testaverde Back for Good at Paradeco who followed that with going 3rd BIS under Judge Mrs C Smith (Soberhill)
RBOB was Abbie Firth's Hochopepa Let's Go Crazy for Sophalba.BP went to Chris Bennett's Testaverde Irma Capece del Hochopepa who finished the day by going 4th BPIS Judge Mrs C Smith (Soberhill)
So there we have it.Short but hopefully still a bit informative?

21st October and Autumn is finally starting to kick in.Love the colder nights as you sleep so much better and taking the dogs for a walk is getting fresher so I don't come home hot and steaming.Bring on the winter..atleast I will have clean dogs.
I had planned to go to the Birmingham Gundog & Terrier Open show at the week end but then I realised that the World Cup Rugby quarter final was on and that Wales was playing France so there was no way I was going to miss that.I love my winter sports and I love Rugby and it is the only times I actually sit in front of the TV and scream if it is really nailbitingly close.Love it and the dogs look at me as if I have gone bonkers..Ohhh here she goes again.. we are out of here and they retire to the kitchen..poor dogs..Neeehh I must have some fun.Just aswell that the Midland Counties is on Friday..yeah I could record but its not the same..somebody is always a spoilsport..

Well, have I got some really interesting gossip for you.
I do have a contact here and there so not totally green when it comes to some inside info regarding the Welsh Assembly and DogGate!
The person who was supposed to come to the SWKA and "learn and have a chat " about what dog shows and showing was all about cried off at the very last moment and claimed that "he/she" had received agressive and threatening emails, so wouldn't come!
Wow that is a chicken and a half ,that person is!
What also made me really scream with laughter and I said you can't be serious for what was to come next..Can you believe it -somebody on the WA ( welsh assembly) actually thinks that we take pups and dogs to shows - parade them around and showing them off and then sell them !!
I said to my friend - you are so "taking the michael here", but no ......Well, hasn't that person heard of CRUFTS ??
How the heck can you miss it? It is on TV and the Radio and every news paper there is .!
It is on months before it even starts and the coverage is on left right and centre -when it is on !!
Well if this is what the WA is like......Oh dear no wonder they haven't got a clue and are afraid of standing up and being counted and as I said last week they are seriously back peddling.
But there again they are politicians and you just don't know ,do you?

Back to the real world of dogs and I have some shows for you and before I go on just to let you know that Wirral Kennel Association on the 29th Dec 2019 has Spin classes on and it is Supported by the ISCGB and the judge is Charlotte Bruce( Teazledown) and the Group judge is Jeff Roberts (Mirkwood) Enter Online with Dogbiz
Here comes the show results for now..

Hunt Point Retrieve Club of Scotland on the 12th October and it was Mrs C Rayner (Raystans) judging and her BOB was Burrows Quebaikei Russian Blizzard and RBOB going to Burrows Quebaikei Salvias Dream

Liskeard & DCA - 13th and judging here was Michael Masters (Manchela) and BOB was Lyn Mortimers
Scodinzolare Perlescenti

Tay Valley Gundog Association also on the 13th and Mr P Watson (Oakswarren) was judging and hos BOB was Burrows Quebaikei Russian Blizzard

We then go over to Gundog Society of Wales which was held on the 16th.Malvern and we were indoors.Wet and muddy outside but so much warmer than inside. The judging was delayed due to an insident on the M6 so many exhibitors were stuck in traffic. It was judge Terry Pearson first time of giving CC's in our breed and the results were as follows.
DCC with BOB and this was his 29th CC and that now equals the "previous" reccord for the Males and it was Sh Ch/Ir Sh CH Afterglow Hashtag Scandal at Bessalone (JW ShCM) owned by the partnership Knowles & Glen and he was also BIS 4 under Judge Marion Waddell .
The RDCC & BP was Bessalone Peaky Blinders owned by the partnership Knowles & Glen and he was also shortlisted in the Puppy Group.
The BCC was Chris and Pete Guest's Sh Ch Bardantop Spells Chaos (JW) with the RBCC awarded to Clair and Lee Sharp's Affilato All About Me (JW) who also won the Junior Stakes under Judge Gareth Lawler
Best Veteran was Nina Fleming's Multi Ch Redrue Cherriecola to Chandhally who was also Shortlisted in the Veteran Group under Judge G Haran.
In other words the Spins had a fab day at the show.

Don't forget, if you like what you read then scroll down to the very, very ,very end of The Spinone Breed notes and you will find the various icons.

It’s the 14th Oct today and what news have I for you this time? Well we are looking closely at Deal or No Deal !! and you know what I am refering to and it isn't that TV program.Personally I would prefer that we get a deal as we travel with pets. For those of you who hasn't shown or travelled with your pets outside the UK it is just the pain of going back to what it was in the early days but also the UK EU Pet passport will be invalid. We will have a lot of fun with that one-- Not-
Think about it .You must go to the Vet ,make sure your dogs rabies and annual vaccines are up to date, have a blood test- titre test - to prove that there are antibodies there for the rabies ,micro chip ,get a health certificates sorted and you have to leave UK within 10 days of issue and this is every time you want to travel abroad and that will also include travel to Ireland -not N.Ireland yet!
Needless to say that will cost a few pennies every time you travel.Out of UK -You must stop at Customs points along the route to declare your dog -- and going back to past experience - stricktly speaking they were not bothered or even interested , but that was then. You can stay out of UK for a maximum of 4 months before you must be back in UK. For entry back to UK it’s the "old stuff" worm prior to returning"
It is just the pain of it all and it might stop a lot of people from travelling across the channel to go to dog shows..Who knows what next.

We had SWKA on Friday 11th and what a dreadful drive that was.It was chuckin ( you know from BBC radio 2 on Fridays -- no G !! no? ohh pity if you don't know about it as it is seriously entertainin... it was peeheeing down and the wind when I came over the Brecon's ohhh a bit rough and to top it all I didn't notice that they had changed the speed limit... ooopppss .It has gone down from 50 to 30 where the hostle is ..ooopppsss .Did the speed camera work ?? I really hope not as the sat nav didn’t bleep..ohh well that could be a costly one in that case.
I often find myself thinking what am I doing when the weather is so horried !! and the dogs looks at me going yeahh! what are we doing, rather be back in bed..Me to.Anyhow have hobby must carry on regardless.
At SWKA it was wet, muddy and parking well that was rather caotic I think. It is normally very easy to park.Dirty dogs again but alteast this time I had plenty time to clean them up.
Every bench had a letter for the WA ( Welsh Assebley) for us to sign so I do hope that people did.I have however had some really interesting replies to my emails from Members of the WA.Yes living here in Wales I sent emails left right and centre.Even to Corbyn..!! Never got a reply from him ..Guess what so many of them say --ohhh but dog shows are not included ... ohh yeah !! Well read again then what it states as it is very clearly stated - dogs going to dog shows more than once or twice a YEAR will need a license to show .
I have had some MP's /AM's that thinks this whole thing is ridiculus and to top it all , it is very badly written. So watch this space..

We were 2nd in the ring at SWKA and we could have been in much earlier if the SWKA had moved us over to one of the many empty rings in the hall next door. Our judge was Shona Williams and her BOB & BCC went to Clair and Lee Sharp's Affilato All About Me (JW)
who was shortlisted in the group where Colin Woodward was the judge. To top it all they also won the Junior stakes under Mark James
The RBCC went to Trudi ? Jones's Inca Volata am Charluben. The DCC was Hercules Inostricani owned by Lorraine Rossiter and the RDCC & BP was Karen Bovio's Inostricani Masai at Ilsolo.BV was Nina Fleming's Multi Ch Redrue Cherriecola to Chandhally

Some Open Shows for you
Stoke on Trent Gundog Club was on the 29th Sept and Harry Nelson (Byeways) was judging the breed and BOB was karen Bovio's
Inostricani Ryea for Ilsolo and RBOB going to Hodgson's Osulf Sugar Cookie who was also 5th in RBOB stakes
BP was Inostricani Masai at Ilsolo owned by Karen Bovio

East Anglian Gundog Club was on the 6th Oct and Sherril Goodwin (Spitewinter) judged and BOB was Leann and Mark Challand's
Sh Ch Mistyayre Gigolo for Annilann (ShCM) who also went RBIS under Judge Kate Keely
Finally we have Chester City & CCS which was also on the 6th and Helen Sutton was in charge and her BOB was Cathy Gill's
Ch Teazledown Moonwalker At Jocagil (JW ShCM) and G4 and BP was Testaverde Enrico Caruso Del Jocagil who got PG2 also owned by Cathy

Finally I have 3 up and coming judges for you ...

Thought I perhaps should add the date of when I send this stuff in as I do try to post it around a Monday or a Tuesday so today is the 8th October. Rather quiet around the dog shows these days but there again we still have quite a few Open shows around and great to see that the Spins are getting a class or two and doing AVNC ( any variety not seriously condsidered.)..
Not sure if you know but looks like there will be a member of the Welsh Assebly attending SWKA.The person was invited to come along and see for "itself" what goes on at a dog show.. and only thing that I feel they might have an issue with are the benching- but there again with the numbers attending Ch Shows here in UK you can't set up Show tents or crates in "allocated " areas which are done in so many other countries where the shows are judged outdoors. We are toooo many.
What is now really funny - I have -as soooo many thousands complained to the WA and whoowoaaa looks like somebody is starting to back peddal if what I resently read is correct.Wish I could do a copy and past but not able to do so but dog shows are now "not part of it " - according to the reply from on person high up there - but it states very clearly in the documents that us who show our dogs , horses and cats will need a license -- ohhh this is getting interesting..Just looked it up and so far over 4000 have signed one of the petitions that is on line.Wonder how many have signed the others that are going around.
Do not forget to sign the petiton that will be on your benches and hand in to the ring stewards

We have SWKA on this Friday and it is Shona Williams judging and she has an entry of 40 /45 .I have also got the entry numbers for GSW which is next Wednesday where Mr T pearson is judging and here it is an entry of 62/70 and finally Midland Counties where Jant Neal has an entry of 84/94/
A few open shows for you

Pwlllheli & DCS (AVNSC) on the 28th and Eric Parr was the judge and his BP was Cathy Gills Testaverde Enrico Caruso Del Jocagil
Gill who also took PG2
Stoke on Trent Gundog Club on the 29th it was Harry Nelson (Byeways) in the ring and his BOB was Karen Bovio's Inostricani Ryea for Ilsolo with the RBOB going to Hodgson's Osulf Sugar Cookie who was also 5th in RBOB stakes
BP also went to Karen Bovio and this was Inostricani Masai at Ilsolo

Finally we have Windsor Gundog Club which was held on the 2nd October and it was James Kelly (Vanshunt) judging and his BOB & BP was Claire and Lee Sharp's Affilato All About Me (JW) who was also shortlisted in the group and also ended up with BPIS under Judge David Todd RBOB was Lesley Coldwell's Lucoru Summer Breeze

Don't forget, if you like what you read then scroll down to the very, very ,very end of The Spinone Breed notes and you will find the various icons.
Hope you will show your support by doing so.Any comments - please add that aswell.

Firstly I do hope you are all out there bombarding the Welsh Assembley with letters regarding this stupied dog license for Show dogs.If you are going to SWKA Sign the petions that will be put out there on the benches and hand it in to the Ring Stewards. If you see spare ones sign them regardless- any, brothers, sisters, child, parents ..
Yeah have you seen the News lately the one about the Welsh Puppy farmers- who are granted breeding licenses and what terrible state they are in and the vets and inspectors supposedly "policing" this and the Councils granting the licensing .. Well that tells you a lot doesn't it. None of them care - Just want any excuse for getting money .
I am hoping that by telling the WA - what us -the dog show enthusiasts do-- we care and have healthy and fit dogs ,vaccinate and do all the health tests required and we treat our much loved dogs who are our Pets , part of the family and also our companions With LOVE and EFFECTION..
What shocking weather we have been having lately, rain, rain and more rain.I swear we are getting trensh foot and webbed feet.I tell you, it is the best Hydro Therapy ever. The fields around here are waterlogged and obviously not helped by the fact that the river flooded. There are only a few parts of my walk that is dry but for some bizzare reason the dogs absolutely love it.trotting around in all that water and really working it.I was however rather puzzled by the fact that they were not interested in the massive flock of Geese on the fields being so called Gundogs I thought they would have "gone" for them but no..how strange -useless gundogs . I thought- untill we had gone way past them and then The old bat- stincky dog and Reb turned and my word what mayhem. They legged it and the Geese, well what a racket.. ohh shoot ..I thought to myself where the heck is that dog whistle -Found it gave it a few long blows.. I was a proud mama they both turned literally mid air and trotted proudly back expecting a fish treat ...hmmm yeah not jolly likely.A wash down with the hosepipe more likely..

Final update of that mysterious illness in Norway that has now claimed a total of 43 dogs and that includes one dog from Sweden. Over 90 breeds were effected.
The Norwegian Veterinary Institute now believes that it is unlikely that there is one specific common denominator among all the registered cases of dogs with bloody diarrhea. It is emphasized that the development of disease is probably multifactorial, which means that the development of the disease is due to several coinciding factors. Some of the cases may also have other causes and may not be part of what we now perceive as an outbreak.
So far, the bacterium Providencia alcalifaciens has been detected in approx. 50 of the dogs who have fallen ill with bloody diarrhea. The bacterium has also been detected in some healthy dogs, but in smaller quantities.
So far, studies of bacterial relationships have shown that 14 of the cases of sick dogs had almost identical bacteria. The studies also show that some dogs have been identified with bacteria that are not identical to the 14. This confirms that some dogs with bloody diarrhea have been exposed to the same source of infection, while others are not part of an outbreak, and may be random cases of different causes.
The Norwegian Food Safety Authority have now stopped the obligation to notife the authority on cases with similar s
