My sincere apologies to the Elkhound exhibitors for the delay in judging your breed. The size of the Dachshund entry took both the Society and me by surprise! I very much appreciated you’re your patience and good manners at the end of a long day. I was delighted with both the number and quality of the entry and thank you for your support.

Class 218 PD/B (2 Entries) Abs: 0
Two very different types here both with much to commend them.
1st: 591 MIDDLETON Mr B & Mrs L A Graythor Lo Lykkelig. Just six months old with a very pleasing head and expression, neat ears. Well ribbed with short wide loin and this just gave her the advantage here. Tight well carried. Moved out well.
2nd: 589 JARAM, Mr S & METCALF Miss E Kestos Casey. Masculine with a good head and expression. Decent forehand with good bone, well ribbed but could be a little more compact. Good leg length. Moved soundly with an easy effortless gait.

Class 219 JD/B (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 583 COWPER, Mrs J E & COWPER Ms B F Kestos Nimrod Of Rothenborg. Very smart with a lovely masculine head, strong neck and good forehand. Well ribbed back and short in loin. Beautifully balanced but can tend to overstretch when being baited. Very good tailset and carriage. In between coats. Most impressive on the move. Reserve Best Dog.
2nd: 587 HAUGSTAD Miss A Skogly's Vl Saxsumdal Saga. Feminine and has a very good outline with good leg to height ratio. Deep chest, good ribs. Good breadth of skull and pleasing expression. Tail carriage could be tighter.
3rd: 589 JARAM, Mr S & METCALF Miss E Kestos Casey

Class 220 PGD/B (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 598 THREADGOLD Mrs W Bowerhinton Bywnans. Typey and with a pleasing head and good bone. Decent front with good feet. Good topline, well ribbed but could be a fraction shorter in loin. Pleasing profile action.

Class 221 OD/B (10 Entries) Abs: 4
A lovely class.
1st: 584 COWPER, Mrs J E & BINGHAM Mrs G Kestos Vega Of Rothenborg. A typey very good moving bitch with an easy, effortless untiring gait. Lovely head and expression, well ribbed with short broad loin and she is beautifully balanced. Excellent tailset and carriage. Best Bitch and BOB.
2nd: 585 GREAVES, Mr R I & CROXFORD Mrs N D & Mr W S Ch & Ir Ch Ennafort The One And Only (Ikc) Sh.CM. Most attractive head and expression, good forehand with broad, deep chest. Well ribbed with good topline. Strong broad loin. Moved soundly.
3rd: 590 MAUN Mrs T Bowerhinton Brouhaha. Best Dog. I regret that I didn’t take any notes on this dog but he appealed to me in the challenge and won Best Dog. Lovely type and he is masculine and strong but not coarse. In good coat, clean legs, and good rib and body.
